K-ON Film Sells 226,000 BD/DVD Copies, 45,000 in Rentals

TBS Holdings, the parent company of the Japanese television station TBS, released its financial report for the second quarter of the 2013 fiscal year on Thursday. According to the report, the K-ON! film has sold 226,000 Blu-ray Disc and DVD copies since its release on July 18. The film has also sold 45,000 copies for the rental market.
Based on kakifly's four-panel comedy manga, the film opened in Japan on December 3, 2011. The film had earned 1.7 billion yen (about US$20.8 million) in ticket sales as of February 1.
