Funimation began streaming a 9.5-minute clip from the Mass Effect: Paragon Lost film on Thursday.
The game developer Electronic Arts and its subsidiary BioWare, the North American distributor FUNimation Entertainment, and the anime studio Production I.G partnered with T.O Entertainment to produce the Mass Effect: Paragon Lost film.
Mass Effect: Paragon Lost will serve as a prequel to the Mass Effect 3 role-playing game, which Electronic Arts released on the PC and PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 consoles. According to Funimation, Mass Effect: Paragon Lost "follows the early career of Alliance Marine, James Vega. Vega leads an elite Special Forces squad into battle against a mysterious alien threat known as The Collectors. Stationed at a colony in a remote star system, Vega and his soldiers must protect the civilians from a ruthless invasion determined to capture the population for unknown purposes." Freddie Prinze Jr. reprises his role as James Vega for the film. Funimation will release the film on DVD and Blu-ray Disc on December 28.
