Seven Seas Adds Zero's Familiar Fantasy Manga
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
North American publisher Seven Seas Entertainment confirmed with ANN on Wednesday that it has licensed Noboru Yamaguchi and Nana Mochizuki's Zero's Familiar (Zero no Tsukaima) manga.
Seven Seas describes the manga as follows:
In a world where sorcery reigns supreme, bumbling witch-in-training Louise Francoise le Blanc is known by her classmates at the Tristain Academy of Magic as "Louise the Zero." During an important coming-of-age ritual, when each student must summon a lifelong familiar, Louise proves herself inept when she mistakenly conjures a teenage boy from earth. Now, whether she likes it or not, Louise "the Zero" and Saito, the ever-whining earth boy from Japan, are bound by the laws of magic as master and servant forever!
Mochizuki adapted Yamaguchi's light novel series in Monthly Comic Alive from 2006-2009. Seven Seas will release the seven-volume manga in three omnibus editions. The first omnibus edition, containing volumes 1-3, will retail for US$19.99.
Yamaguchi's light novels inspired four television anime series. Geneon Entertainment (USA) Inc. released the first anime series on DVD in North America. Later, Funimation acquired the rights after Geneon stopped distributing anime in North America. Sentai Filmworks will release the final season, Familiar of Zero F, in North America.
