Kodansha Ex-Editor Creates Agency with Sakuran, Space Brothers Authors
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Yōhei Sadoshima, an editor who has worked on manga such as Takehiko Inoue's Vagabond and Chūya Koyama's Uchū Kyōdai (Space Brothers), has left the publisher Kodansha as of Sunday and is establishing a new agency for creators called Cork.
The official website for the new agency has revealed that manga creators Moyoco Anno (Sakuran, Happy Mania), Koyama, and Norifusa Mita (Dragon Zakura) — along with novelists Kazushige Abe, Nao-Cola Yamazaki, and Kōtarō Isaka (Maoh: Juvenile Remix) — have all endorsed the agency. Cork will represent these creators when the company officially launches in late November.
Anno herself has created her own version of the company's logo (pictured above right) to commemorate the new company. The company name is inspired by the necessity of corks when maturing wine and ferrying wine throughout the world. Sadoshima will serve as representative director and president, and Ryōsuke Saigusa will serve as representative director and vice-president.
