posted on by Egan Loo
Sony opened its pre-Tokyo Game Show press conference on Wednesday by confirming a newer PlayStation 3 console that is about 20% smaller and 25% lighter than the current slim PlayStation 3. The 250-gigabyte model will ship on September 25 for US$269, while the 500-gigabyte model will ship on October 10 for US$299. The 250-gigabyte model will initially be available in a bundle with Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception: Game of the Year Edition and a voucher for over $30 worth of bonus digital content for the game Dust 514. The 500-gigabyte model will be available in conjunction with Assassin's Creed III.
The PlayStation Vita is getting two new Japanese colors — Cosmic Red and Sapphire Blue — on November 15 and new manga offerings in its Japanese Reader Store in mid-October. A compatible Reader for PlayStation Vita with touch controls will be available for download for reading 3,000 volumes of manga, including Fate/stay night, Thermae Romae, Seitokai no Ichizon, Kemeko Deluxe!, Zettai Karen Children, Jormungand, One Piece Color Edition, JoJo's Bizarre Adventure, Uchū Kyōdai (Space Brothers), and Attack on Titan. A compatible Android Reader will also be offered this fall.
Sony launched a PSP manga service in 2009, but is ending the service this year.
