NY Comic Con to Host Urotsukidoji's Maeda, SoreMachi's Ishiguro
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The mobile app for this year's New York Comic Con is listing that manga creators Toshio Maeda (Urotsukidoji, La Blue Girl) and Masakazu Ishiguro (Sore de mo Machi wa Mawatteiru/And Yet the Town Moves) will attend the convention as guests.
Maeda, a self-proclaimed "tentacle master," is considered one of the most influential erotic manga artists of the 1980s and 1990s. He writes hentai manga both for men and women. Many of his works, including Urotsukidoji, La Blue Girl, Demon Beast Invasion, and Adventure Kid, have received anime adaptations.
As a self-taught manga artist, Maeda began writing manga for adults to avoid the restrictions placed on manga for children. Maeda previously attended Japan Expo in France in July.
The app lists that Ishiguro is attending as a guest of JManga, and he will speak at a panel alongside Young King Ours editor-in-chief Masahiro Ohno.
JManga is publishing Sore de mo Machi wa Mawatteiru in English. Sentai Filmworks released the 2010 anime adaptation of the manga in North America.
New York Comic Con will be held at the Javits Convention Center from October 11-14. The convention will also host actress/singer Yuu Asakawa, Blogger/TV host Danny Choo, Crypton Future Media, artist Yoshitaka Amano, manga creators Moyoco Anno and Masakazu Katsura, and Sunrise producer Kazuhiko Tamura.
