Crunchyroll Reports 100,000 Paid Subscribers
posted on by Egan Loo
The online media service Crunchyroll reported that it has reached the milestone of 100,000 paid subscribers. Less than one year ago, Crunchyroll investor TV Tokyo announced that the site had more than 70,000 subscribers. Crunchyroll had in the range of 30,000 paid subscribers in the summer of 2010.
Co-founder and CEO Kun Gao partly credited its apps for iOS, Android, and Windows phones, as well as those for Roku, Boxee, Google TV and the PlayStation 3. He added that the site "is eyeing other territories" after its expansion into the Latin American sectors earlier this year, along with other niches beside its current anime/live-action offerings.
