Madoka Kawaguchi's Shi to Kanojo to Boku (The Death, Her, and Me.) horror manga will get a late-night live-action television drama adaptation starting on September 21 on TV Asahi.
20-year-old rookie actress Azusa Mine (Signal: Getsuyōbi no Ruka's Ruka) will star in the drama as Yukari Tokino, a girl who has been able to see see and hear the deceased since she had serious illness and barely escaped death at the age of seven. The series will co-star Tomohiro Ichikawa (Hotaru no Hikari 2, Otomen, Ouran High School Host Club film) as Yūsaku Matsumi, a boy who has also been able to hear the voices of the dead since he was a child.
Atsuko Sakurai (Yasuko to Kenji, Tokumei Kakarichou Tadano Hitoshi series) will also appear in the drama as Natsumi, a ghost who died from falling off of a building. Kōichi Funatsu (Koi no Chikara, Waterboys) is producing the series.
Kawaguchi's manga ran for nearly nine years in Kodansha's Kiss magazine. Kodansha published the 10-volume manga between 1991-1999. The manga has two sequels, Shi to Kanojo to Boku Yukari, and Shi to Kanojo to Boku Meguru, the latter of which is currently running in Kodansha's Kiss Plus magazine.
