Gainax's Kichijoji Tron Makes TV CG Anime of BiS Idols
posted on by Egan Loo
Gainax's satellite studio Kichijōji Tron will launch Backstage Idol Story, a 15-minute computer-animated program of the idol group BiS (Brand-New Idol Society), on the Space Shower TV channel on October 10. The idols of BiS just made their major label debut under Avex Trax with the July single "PPCC." They will hold their own live concert at Tokyo's Akasaka Blitz venue on October 21.
The computer-animated versions of the idols will star in the television show, which will be split into two segments. The first segment purports to offer a previously unseen glimpse into the gossip and chatter that goes on in the dressing room, similar to the ongoing Joshiraku anime. The second segment will be an improvised, ad-lib chat between BiS and a lineup of special guests.
The first guest on the October 10 show will be Japanese television personality and politician Taizō Sugimura. Other scheduled guests will include manga creator Britney Hamada and Scha Dara Parr rap group member Ani.
Artist Kokudō 12-gō designed the characters in Backstage Idol Story, and Kōtarō Ishidate, the head writer of gdgd Fairies, is in charge of the scripts and overall direction. The program is slated to run for eight episodes.
