Chocolat Manga's Taiwanese Live-Action TV Adaptation Revealed

posted on by Ko Ransom
Adaptation of Eisaku Kubonouchi manga to star Japanese actress Masami Nagasawa

Eisaku Kubonouchi's manga Chocolat will receive a prime-time live-action television adaptation in Taiwan next summer starring the Japanese actress Masami Nagasawa (Minami Asakura in the live-action Touch film). The series is scheduled to be broadcast over thirteen 90-minute episodes, and will also star the Taiwanese actor Lan Cheng Long. Following its original broadcast, there are plans to bring the title to roughly 10 other Asian countries, including Japan, Korea, and China.

The series is scheduled to begin shooting in late September. Nagasawa will perform her role while speaking in Chinese in every episode, as she plays a Japanese girl who comes to a cake shop operated by a former gang member while seeking to deepen her relationship with her father, a former yakuza boss, after her mother passes away.

Chocolat was originally published in Shogakukan's Big Comic Spirits magazine, and was also fully published in Taiwan.
