Kodansha's shoujo manga magazine Dessert will begin serializing a manga version of Pierrot ~YOAKEMAE~, a 2012 novel that deals with the effects of the Great East Japan Earthquake and subsequent nuclear crisis, this September.
The title tells the story of four friends at a Girl's High school in Fukushima Prefecture that is feared to have been radioactively contaminated. One of the four committed suicide a month after her college student fiancee told her that he was afraid of having a child with her because he did not want an unhealthy child. The manga will be split into six chapters.
The original novel went on sale this April, gained popularity through social media services such as Twitter and selling approximately 30,000 copies in three months.
