The North American anime licensing company Sentai Filmworks announced on Sunday that it has licensed the Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai) television anime series. The company will release the series digitally with a home video release to follow.
The anime adaptation of Chūya Koyama's Space Brothers (Uchū Kyōdai) manga follows the story of two brothers, Mutta and Hibito, who made a vow as kids to travel to space. The younger brother Hibito did become an astronaut, but not Mutta. However, Mutta's life changes one fateful day.
Ayumu Watanabe, director and animation director for various Doraemon anime films, is serving as the series' director. The main cast include Hiroaki Hirata as Mutta Nanba, KENN as Hibito Nanba, Masako Ikeda as Sharon, and Miyuki Sawashiro as Serika Itō. Crunchyroll is currently streaming the series in various countries as it airs in Japan.
