Tohru Fujisawa's New GTO Spinoff Manga Is GT-R Series
posted on by Egan Loo
This year's 29th issue of Kodansha's Weekly Shōnen Magazine is announcing on Wednesday that the previously revealed new GTO manga spinoff will be a series called GT-R. Creator Tohru Fujisawa had said last month that he was starting work on a manga focusing on Onizuka's close friend and drinking buddy Ryūji Danma from the GTO: The Early Years series. Ryūji now runs a small-time motorcycle shop. One day, Mikado Ishikawa, a mysterious high school girl with an interest in motorcycles, appears.
The new manga will commemorate the July 3 premiere of the live-action GTO television remake with EXILE band member Akira in the title role.
Fujisawa is currently penning Itoshi no Dutchoven Girl (My Dear Dutch Oven Girl) in Futabasha's Manga Action magazine and Ino-Head Gargoyle in Kodansha's Young Magazine. He is also collaborating on Soul Reviver in Shogakukan's New Monthly Hero, and Shibuya Hachikō-Mae -another side- (In Front of Shibuya Station's Hachikō Exit -another side) in ASCII Media Works' digital magazine Dengeki Comic Japan.
