The ninth issue of Shueisha's bimonthly Miracle Jump magazine announced on Friday that Air Master creator Yokusaru Shibata will start a new manga in the magazine's 10th issue in August. The manga will be titled Misako.
Shibata's 28-volume Air Master manga received a television anime adaptation from Toei Animation in 2003. Toei Animation itself tried to enter the North American DVD market in 2005 by releasing Air Master and two other titles, but only shipped the first volumes before leaving the market. Funimation signed a partnership with Toei Animation in 2009 to distribute the series on its website.
Shibata's 81diver manga was adapted into a live-action television drama series in 2008. 81diver was was recommended by the 2007 Japan Media Arts Festival jury and nominated for the 12th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prize in 2008.
