Voice Actress/Singer Aya Hirano to Perform at Otakon
posted on by Egan Loo
The organizers of Otakon announced on Wednesday that they will host voice actress and singer Aya Hirano (Haruhi Suzumiya, Lucky Star, Fairy Tail) during the July 27-29 convention in Baltimore.
Hirano has been acting since she was a child, but she received her big break when she starred in the title role of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya anime series. She also sang songs for this anime and Lucky Star, another television series for which she headlined. Her other roles include Lumière from Kiddy Grade, Misa in Death Note, Lucy in Fairy Tail, and Mamori in Eyeshield 21.
In addition to spending time in the United States during her childhood, Hirano has made a few trips back. She performed at the Anime Expo convention in California in 2007, and then met fans in New York City for a television program last year.
