Japan Plans Anime/Manga Database
posted on by Ko Ransom
Japan's Cultural Affairs Agency has begun making steps toward creating a database with detailed information on over 300,000 anime and manga titles as part of the Japanese government's "Cool Japan" policy. The database is scheduled to be opened to the public in 2014, and is meant to replace some of the functions of the failed 2009 proposal for a state-run anime museum and media center.
Japan's Ministry of Internal Affairs and Communications planned in 2007 to create a similar government-subsidized database that would cover anime, among other forms of media.
