Police in Hyōgo Prefecture arrested a 44-year-old male part-time worker from Osaka's Izumisano City on Thursday on suspicion of violating Japan's Copyright Law. The suspect reportedly admitted to sharing the One Piece pirate manga online with his personal computer at home.
According to Asahi Shimbun paper's source in the investigation, the suspect released about 200 pages, or most of the 49th volume of the manga, through the Cabos file-sharing software and other means on April 19. The Hyōgo police's Cyber Crime Task Force discovered the alleged actions through its online surveillance.
