Funimation to Release Oblivion Island Film in August

Funimation announced on Thursday that it has set an August 14 release date for the fantasy adventure film Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror on DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The DVD will retail for US$19.98 and the Blu-ray Disc/DVD combo version will retail for US$24.98. Pre-orders for both versions will start on July 10. Funimation had announced its license of the film in October 2011.
Production I.G's Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror debuted in theaters in Japan September 2009. The story follows the fantasy adventure of 16-year-old Haruka and her quest to find her lost hand mirror given to her by her late mother. Directed by Shinsuke Satō (Gantz live action films), the film was nominated for the award for Excellent Animation of the Year at the 33rd Japan Academy Prize. The film was animated completely in 3D, using computer generated graphics.
