The Cinema Today website began streaming a 36-second trailer for the Blood-C: The Last Dark film on Monday. The video feature's Nana Mizuki's theme song "Metro Baroque." The anime film is set in Tokyo one year after the Blood-C television series, and Saya returns as the schoolgirl who hunts and feeds on the Furukimono.
The film's official website also announced that a two-part Special Edition compilation of the television anime with previously unseen footage will air before the film opens. The compilation will recap the television anime and feature a "secret" Itsuki Tomofusa sequence that did not air with the series. The episode titled "Tamano o Yo" will debut on May 26, followed by "Hitomo no Shi" on May 30.
Manga creator team CLAMP developed the story and original character designs for the earlier Blood-C television series and the upcoming film. Production I.G has been animating both projects. Naoyoshi Shiotani (Tokyo Marble Chocolate, key animator on Blood+ and Blood-C) is directing the film instead of the television version's director Tsutomu Mizushima. Writers Jun'ichi Fujisaku and Nanase Ohkawa (CLAMP), animation character designer/chief animation director Kazuchika Kise, and voice cast members Nana Mizuki (Saya Kisaragi) and Kenji Nojima (Fumito Nanahara) are returning from the television series.
The film will open in theaters across Japan on June 2. Niconico, the English version of the online video service Nico Nico Douga, streamed the television series outside of Japan as it aired.
