Bandai Predicts More Gundam Sales, But Lower Toy/Model Sales

According to Bandai Namco's recently released financial statements for the fiscal year ending on March 31, 2012, sales for the Gundam franchise grew from 38.2 billion yen (about US$479 million) in the previous year to 44.7 billion yen (US$560 million). Sales of Gundam toys and hobby kits in particular grew from 13.4 billion yen (about US$168 million) to 15.6 billion yen (about US$196 million) as well.
The company projects that for the next financial year, sales for the Gundam series overall will increase to 47 billion yen (US$590 million), but that toy and model sales for the series will drop to 15 billion yen (US$188 million).
