posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The Japanese soft drink company Sapporo Beverage announced on Wednesday that an anime short series inspired by its mascot character Ribbon-chan will premiere on April 4. The story will center on the soda-loving young girl named Ribbon-chan and her pet dog Citron.
The series will air on Wednesdays during episodes of the Nori Suta Max television program. The Singaporean all-female idol group Sea☆A will perform the anime's opening theme song "Shiawase ♪ Ranranran." Sea☆A will provide the opening theme song for the Arashi no Yoru ni: Himitsu no Tomodachi television anime series, which will also premiere on April 4.
Sapporo Beverage introduced Ribbon-chan as a mascot for its existing line of Ribbon soft drinks and Ribbon Citron soda in 1957. The company renewed its usage of Ribbon-chan on packaging and in television commercials in 2009. The soft drink maker is planning a series of ten new television commercials that will feature Ribbon-chan and Citron.
