Touch Anime Co-Stars Make Cameo in Area no Kishi Series
posted on by Jennifer Sherman
The official website for the television anime adaptation of Hiroaki Igano and Kaya Tsukiyama's The Knight in the Area (Area no Kishi) soccer manga announced on Friday that Touch co-stars Yūji Mitsuya and Noriko Hidaka will perform a cameo in the series.
Mitsuya will play the "Nadeshiko Japan" women's national soccer team coach Goto, and Hidaka will portray the forward Taeko Isshiki. Mitsuya played the main character Tatsuya Uesugi, while Hidaka portrayed his love interest Minami Asakura in the 1980s baseball television anime Touch.
Igano and Tsukiyama's original manga centers on Kakeru Aizawa, the younger brother of the Kamakura School soccer team captain Suguru. While Suguru is so talented in soccer that he has been made part of Japan's national under-15 team, Kakeru is so weak at the sport that he is nicknamed "Mr. No Goal." Kakeru's life changes however, after a tragic accident.
The Knight in the Area anime premiered in Japan on January 7, and Cruchyroll is streaming the series as it airs.
