Australian Firm Still Plans Gosick, Nichijō Releases Without Bandai Ent.
posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
The Australian anime licensee company Madman Entertainment revealed on its blog on Wednesday that it will still release the Gosick and Nichijō television anime series on DVD later this year. The company noted that even though Bandai Entertainment and Beez Entertainment will stop offering new anime releases, that news "has absolutely no affect on [its] current and future release slates."
The company explained that it acquired the titles released by Bandai Entertainment and Beez from a different licensor. Madman added that any titles it licensed with Bandai Entertainment will not be affected, although it added that the DVD releases of Gosick and Nichijō will probably be subtitle-only releases.
Bandai Entertainment announced earlier this month that it will stop offering new DVD, Blu-ray Disc, and manga releases in February, and announced its upcoming releases of Gosick and Nichijō had been canceled. ANN then confirmed the next week that Beez Entertainment, the Namco Bandai Group company that has handled anime sales in France and several other European countries, is no longer releasing new anime.
