Hirai: Sony Will Not Announce New Home Console at E3

Sony Computer Entertainment (SCE) Chairman Kazuo Hirai confirmed that his company will not be unveiling the replacement for the PlayStation 3 home console at this year's E3 event. During a press session for this year's Consumer Electronics Show, Hirai said, “[SCE President Andrew House] is absolutely right in that we are not making any announcements at E3. I've always said a 10-year life cycle for PS3, and there is no reason to go away from that."

Hirai added that physical media will still be an integral part of Sony's gaming stategy. Hirai later said that with the advent of 3D games, "We are definitely, from a Sony perspective, very committed to 3D. It's going to take a little while."
