Nico Nico Douga Adds 1.5 Millionth Subscriber

One of the official automated Twitter accounts for the Japanese video streaming service Nico Nico Douga announced on Tuesday that the service registered its 1.5 millionth paid subscriber. The site signed its 1 millionth premium subscriber in October of 2010.
Nico Nico launched on December 31, 2006, and it added its monthly 525-yen (about US$6.80) premium service on June 18, 2007. The 800,000th subscriber registered on May 17, 2010, and two and a half months later, the 900,000th subscriber registered on August 3.
