Vic Mignogna Interview Streamed by Manga UK
posted on by Andrew Osmond
The Manga UK blog is streaming a twenty-minute interview with Vic Mignogna, best known as the dub voice of Edward Elric in both anime versions of Fullmetal Alchemist. The interview was recorded while Mignogna was in London to attend MCM Expo in October.
Mignogna is a veteran of dozens of anime dubs, including such recent titles as Vampire Knight, in which he voices Zero Kiryu and his brother Ichiru, and Soul Eater, where he plays the Death Scythe, also called Spirit Albarn. Additionally, Mignogna voiced Hikaru Ichijo, the hero of Super Dimensional Fortress Macross, in the dub created by ADV (not released in Britain).
In the interview, Mignogna talks about the practical side of voice-acting, saying that, “In the anime business, time is money. One way to be sure that you're cast again and again and again is that you do what you do fast, match the mouth movements and deliver the performance quickly.”
Of British fans, Mignogna says, “I don't think there is a place on Planet Earth where the fans are more expressive and enthusiastic than they are in the U.K.”
The interview was conducted and filmed by Jeremy Graves, who also co-hosts the Anime Chronicle podcast.
Thanks to Jeremy Graves for the news tip.
