posted on by Crystalyn Hodgkins
Crunchyroll announced on Wednesday that it will simulcast the gdgd Fairies television anime series. The website will begin streaming episode seven starting at 2:30 p.m. EST today and will catch up with the previous episodes "at a later date." The simulcast is available worldwide outside of Japan.
The fully computer-animated series centers around three little fairies who live inside the trees in Fairy Forest. They have weak magical powers, but they also have the "Mental and Time Room" where they can freely use magic, as well as the Afure Lake with which they can peer into other worlds.
Sōta Sugahara designed the characters and is overseeing the animation. Voice actress Satomi Akesaka plays krkr (korokoro), a quiet fairy whose stoic visage does not let on what she is thinking. Suzuko Mimori plays pkpk (pikupiku), and Kaoru Mizuhara plays the always high-spirited shrshr (shirushiru). Akesaka described the new anime as being similar to the computer-animated television projects of Frogman (Eagle Talon) and The World of GOLDEN EGGS. The anime premiered in Japan on October 12.
