Natsume Yūjin-Chō (Natsume's Book of Friends) manga creator Yuki Midorikawa drew a new Hotarubi no Mori e manga story for the keepsake edition of the manga that Hakusensha published on Monday. This new 12-page manga story is available before the anime film adaptation of Hotarubi no Mori e opens in select Japanese theaters on September 17. The original Hotarubi no Mori e manga launched in Japan in 2002.
Hotarubi no Mori e tells the story of love between a young girl and a ghost boy after they meet in a forest. Hotaru cannot touch Gin because the contact could make him disappear forever.
Other one-shot works by Midorikawa released in recent years include Taion no Kakera (2003) and Hoshi mo Mienai (2005), and both are in the new edition of Hotarubi no Mori e.
