Free Haruhi's AniPoke iOS App Offered in U.S., Japan
posted on by Egan Loo
Kadokawa Shoten released three apps inspired by Nagaru Tanigawa's Haruhi Suzumiya light novel series and anime in Japan and overseas last week. Haruhi's AniPoke uses Motion Portrait technology (previously used in games) and voice recordings to allow user to carry a (limited) verbal exchange with the main character Haruhi Suzumiya, complete with changing facial expressions. A Mikuru's AniPoke app and a Nagato AniPoke app are also available for the characters Mikuru Asahina and Yuki Nagato, respectively.
The Haruhi's AniPoke app is free, while the other two apps cost US$0.99 or 115 yen for a limited time from July 7 until August 31. (The other two apps normally cost US$3.99 or 450 yen.) Each app is compatible with Apple's iPhone, iPod touch and iPad devices with iOS 3.0 or higher.
In addition to the character interaction feature, each app offers an alarm clock with the character's voice and hidden commands.
