Fumi Saimon's women's manga Hanawake no Yon-Shimai (The Four Sisters of the Hanawa Family) is receiving a live-action television series adaptation which will premiere this July. The drama will star 34-year-old Alisa Mizuki (2009-2010 live-action Sazae-san's titular character) as Takemi, a single working mother of three who was divorced twice before turning 30. Takemi is the second eldest of four sisters, all of whom have horrible luck with men. Saimon's Hanawake no Yonshimai ran in Kodansha's Morning magazine from 2006-2008 and has five volumes.
The drama will also star Michiko Kichise (Nodame Cantabile, Hataraki Man) as the eldest sister Fujiko, Shihori Kanjiya (Bartender, SaiKano) as the third sister Sakurako, Umika Kawashima (Bloody Monday) as the youngest sister Ume, and NEWS group member Shigeaki Kato as a cameraman who knows each of the sisters.
Saimon's Tokyo Love Story was also adapted into a live-action television drama in 1991, and her manga Shin Dosei Jidai was adapted into an original video anime (OVA) project in 1992.
