Comic-Con Int'l to Host Domo-kun Creator Tsuneo Goda
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Comic-Con International announced on Tuesday that Tsuneo Gōda, the creator of the internationally known mascot character Domo-kun (Domo), will be appearing at the July event in San Diego courtesy of Dark Horse Comics. Goda created Domo-kun as the mascot for the Japanese public broadcaster NHK, and he oversaw the stop-motion shorts that the Japanese studio dwarf inc. animated.
New stop-motion Domo shorts were created for the Target chain of department stores in the United States in 2008, and more shorts were created for the 7-Eleven chain of convenience stores in 2009. Tokyopop published an English-language, full-color graphic novel that same year.
Goda's other works include the Komaneko film and PLUG, the New World, a project created in conjunction with Nissan Motors.
Comic-Con International runs from July 21 to July 24 at the San Diego Convention Center. A full list of guests can be found on its website.
