posted on by Egan Loo
The first episode of the Golden Kids soccer anime is streaming for free from an exclusive app created for the anime on the iPhone and other iOS devices. Golden Kids is the latest anime based on a story by Youichi Takahashi (Captain Tsubasa). The app already debuted in January in dubbed Japanese and English, but the app is now making the first episode free. The app also lowered the cost of subsequent episodes to US$0.99 each.
The story revolves around Koganedai Downtown FC Golden Kids, a children's soccer team have not won a single game since it formed. As the team's losing streak extends to 22 games, the members lose hope and get bullied by the other kids. However, Goal Kitagawa, the captain and goal keeper, continues to practice hard and eventually inspires the other members.
The IGN website posted a one-minute clip for Scott Stewart's loose live-action adaptation of the Korean manhwa Priest on Friday. Hyung Min-woo created the original manhwa that Tokyopop released in North America. The trailer features Paul Bettany as the titular priest Ivan Isaacs, Cam Gigandet as Sheriff Hicks, Maggie Q as the Priestess, Lily Collins as Isaacs' kidnapped niece Lucy, and Karl Urban as Black Hat. The video features Ivan Isaacs and Sheriff Hicks in a standoff against an army of newborn vampires.
After three delays, the movie is now slated for release in 2D and stereoscopic 3D on May 13.
