Japan's Animation TV Ranking, April 4-10

A repeat of the classic 1970s anime Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi returned for one more night on October 10, and it scored a relatively high rating of 8.0%. During its original run over three decades ago, the anime had an average rating of 18.1% and an all-time high rating of 33.6%. Blue Exorcist would have premiered in the 5:00 p.m. timeslot on April 10 that Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi took, but Blue Exorcist's premiere was delayed one week to April 17.
In addition, the two 5-disc DVD boxes for the anime went on sale on April 1 and sold a combined total of 22,500 sets. Along with the single DVDs that were also sold, it took only four days for the first pressing of 155,000 DVDs to sell out. MBS reported that viewers asked for Manga Nihon Mukashi Banashi to return as a regular program, and the station wants to discuss its future plans with its network affiliates across the country.
