posted on by Egan Loo
The official website for the stereoscopic 3D conversion of Kenji Kamiyama and Production I.G's Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex: Solid State Society movie began streaming the 98-second theatrical trailer in stereoscopic 3D on Tuesday. The producers collaborated with the website YouTube to show the trailer in five different stereoscopic 3D options (red/cyan, green/magenta, blue/yellow, interleaved rows, columns or checkerboard, side by side). The March and April issues of Kodansha's Monthly Young Magazine includes Ghost in the Shell Stereoscopic 3D Glasses on Wednesday and March 9, respectively, although the anime's website suggests some online instructions for making your own glasses.
The official site also posted two videos of director Kenji Kamiyama discussing YouTube's first use of 3D glasses for a Japanese film trailer and the free midnight preview screening of the film in Tokyo on February 25. Kamiyama himself is overseeing the conversion, and I.G also added a newly animated opening sequence. The movie will open in Tokyo's Shinjuku Wald 9 theater and other Japanese theaters on March 26, 2011.
