Nintendo unveiled more details on the North American launch of its 3DS portable game console during a New York press event on Wednesday. The console will launch on Sunday, March 27 for a suggested retail price of US$250.
Nintendo also revealed details of the retail package. Included with the 3DS is a 2GB SD card, a charging cradle, and six augmented reality cards that work in conjunction with the 3DS's 3D camera. The system will ship in two colors: aqua blue and cosmos black.
The following games are set to be release on launch day or in the weeks thereafter:
- Pilotwings Resort
- Nintendogs + Cats
- Steel Diver
- Dead or Alive Dimensions
- Pro Evolution Soccer 2011 3D
- Madden NFL Football
- Super Street Fighter IV 3D Edition
- Resident Evil: The Mercenaries 3D
- Asphalt 3D
- Combat of Giants: Dinosaurs 3D
- Ridge Racer 3D
- LEGO Star Wars III: The Clone Wars
As for online support, Nintendo mentions the use of Friend Codes to connect to other players once again. Unlike past iterations for the DS and DSi, each system will contain one universal Friend Code to be used in every 3DS game. This is somewhat similar to an XBox Live or PlayStation Network account.
More details are provided on the newly launched 3DS official website.
