posted on by Egan Loo
Kodansha's Morning magazine is announcing that an anime adaptation of Yoshihiro Yamada's Hyouge Mono - Tea for Universe, Tea for Life manga has been green-lit. The story is set during Japan's Sengoku Jidai (Era of the Warring States) and centers on Sasuke Furuta, a vassal of the great warlord Nobunaga Oda and a man obsessed with tea ceremony and material desires in his pursuit of a fortuitous life. Having learned from Oda and the legendary tea master Sen no Sōeki, Furuta walks the way of the "Hyouge Mono."
The anime will run on the Japanese public broadcaster NHK's Broadcast Satellite (BS) channels next spring. The manga has been running in Morning since 2005, and the 11th volume shipped in July. The manga won the Grand Prize in the 14th Tezuka Osamu Cultural Prizes earlier this year. It also earned an Excellence Prize in the 13th Japan Media Arts Festival Awards last year.
