posted on by Egan Loo
Viz Media began selling downloadable manga through an app for the Apple iPad device on Tuesday. Users can install the app itself for free, and volumes of six manga titles in the initial launch lineup cost US$4.99 each.
The six launch titles are Bleach, Death Note, Dragon Ball, Naruto, One Piece, and the first volume of Bakuman. Viz plans to add more volumes of Bakuman., Ouran High School Host Club, D.Gray-man, Rurouni Kenshin, and Vampire Knight in the near future. The first volume of Death Note is available for free for a limited time.
The app lists the iPad in its requirements, but not the Apple iPhone or iPod touch mobile devices. When the industry news source Publishers Weekly asked about support for other devices, Viz Senior Vice President and General Manager Alvin Lu said there is "more to come."
