2 New Pokémon Manga Listed by Viz's Distributor

The business website for Simon & Schuster, the North American book distributor for Viz Media, is listing the manga titles Pokémon Adventures: Platinum Volume 1 and Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life. Both are listed with February 2011 release dates.
Pokémon Adventures: Platinum is a continuation of the Pokémon Adventures manga series by Hidenori Kusaka. In Japan, the series (originally titled Pocket Monsters Special) did not change names between story arcs; as such, volume 1 of Pokémon Adventures: Platinum is the equivalent to the 30th volume of Pocket Monsters Special in Japan. The Pocket Monsters Special manga featured art by illustrator Mato, although Satoshi Yamamoto has been drawing the manga since volume 10.
The manga Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life is an adaptation of last year's anime film of the same name. The story revolves around the once-betrayed legendary Pokémon Arceus, and the attempts by series protagonists Ash and Dawn to prevent Arceus from destroying humanity by proving its worth. Makoto Mizobuchi (Pokémon: Mystery Dungeon, Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea) writes and illustrates the manga.
Pokémon: Arceus and the Jewel of Life opened as the 12th feature film in the Pokémon franchise in Japan on July 18, 2009. The Cartoon Network ran it on American television last November, just four months after the Japanese theaterical opening.
