Iron Man Anime, T.P. Sakura, K-On!! Promos Streamed

Iron Man in October; T.P. Sakura in November; K-ON!! actresses make census radio ad

The Japanese television channel Animax has launched a website for Madhouse's anime adaptation of Marvel's Iron Man character with three promotional videos: "World Premiere," "Unveiling," and "Japanese Studio Adapts into Anime." (In the linked page, select the "MOVIE" menu option at the bottom.) Prolific comic writer Warren Ellis provided the story, and Yūzō Satō (Kaiji, BioHunter, One Outs) is directing the project with character designs by Takahiro Umehara (Tenjho Tenge, Claymore, One Outs). The cast includes Keiji Fujiwara (Tony Stark), Hiroe Oka (Pepper Potts), Unshou Ishizuka (Defense Minister Kuroda), Takako Honda (Tanaka), and Shizuka Itou (Nanami Ōta).

An Iron Man Anime preview special will run on Animax on September 25 — one week before the 12-episode series actually has its world television premiere on the same channel on October 1. It will then run on the American network G4 next year.

The multimedia developer Circus has begun streaming the second 69-second promotional video, titled "Battle," for the T.P. Sakura - Time Paladin Sakura - Jikū Bōeisen game and anime project on the YouTube website this week. The project is a spinoff from the developer's D.C. ~Da Capo~ franchise and features the Sakura Yoshino character as a seemingly ordinary third grader with secret special powers. The first of two volumes will ship in Japan on November 25, and the final volume will ship on January 27.

The Japanese prefecture of Kyoto is hosting a 30-second radio commercial that the five main voice actresses of the K-ON!! anime recorded to promote Japan's 2010 (Heisei 22) Census. The commercial encourages the citizens of Kyoto to participate in the census, which starts on October 1. Not coincidentally, the anime's production studio, Kyoto Animation, is based in the prefecture.
