New Kämpfer Project Launch Announced
posted on by Egan Loo
The official Twitter account of the editorial staff at Media Factory's Monthly Comic Alive magazine has confirmed on Saturday that a "new Kämpfer project launch" was announced at the TBS Anime Festa event in Tokyo earlier in the day. According to the editorial staff, a formal announcement will also be made for this and other projects on their respective official websites and in Monthly Comic Alive itself.
The story of Kämpfer centers on Natsuru Senō, an ordinary high school boy who discovers that he has been involuntarily chosen to participate in battles as a "Kämpfer." Moreover, he must have the body of a girl to use his powers in battle.
Toshihiko Tsukiji, the creator of the Maburaho light novels and the Umi Monogatari (Sea Story) pachinko games, published the first Kämpfer light novel volume in 2006. He has since written the 12th and final full volume this past March, as well as three short story collections in the meantime. Senmu draws the illustrations in the light novels, while the artist Yu Tatibana (Yû Tachibana) has been drawing the manga version in Monthly Comic Alive since 2008. The light novels then inspired a television anime series last year.
