Nana Mizuki Voices Osamu Tezuka's Unico Movie Comic
posted on by Egan Loo
BeeTV, Avex Broadcasting & Communications' television service for Japanese mobile phones, will begin streaming a "movie comic" (motion comic in English) version of Osamu Tezuka's classic Unico manga on August 1. Voice actress Nana Mizuki will play the roles in the movie comic, which adds color, spoken dialogue, sound effects, and special effects to Tezuka's original manga.
The original manga ran in Sanrio's Ririka magazine from 1976 to 1979, and a remake version for younger children ran in Shogakukan's Shogaku Ichigakusei magazine from 1980 to 1984. The manga inspired two animated movies (the first directed by Tezuka himself), and the two were dubbed in English as The Fantastic Adventures of Unico and Unico: To the Magic Island.

Update: Added both the Japanese "movie comic" and English "motion comic" terms.
