Ufotable Draws Poster for Japanese Military Recruiters

Not-So-Daily Link of the Day: The Tokushima Base of Japan's Self-Defense Forces has produced a poster for this year's recruiting drive with the anime studio ufotable (Kara no Kyōkai - the Garden of sinners, Gakuen Utopia Manabi Straight!, Tales of Symphonia). The studio had drawn the popular poster for last year's Awa Odori Festival in Tokushima City in southwestern Japan.
The new recruiting poster depicts a female Air Self-Defense Force sergeant third-class wearing a summer service uniform. According to Tokushima Base, the poster was designed so that students from junior high school to college would want to hang it up in their rooms.
The Technical Research and Development Institute in Japan's Ministry of Defense hosted an exhibit about "making Gundam (Advanced Personal Equipment System) a reality" during its Defense Technology Symposium 2007. The Ministry of Defense also created three manga booklets for its mascot Prince Pickles to explain its mission to its citizens, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has Detective Conan explaining its mission. In the past, the Maritime Self-Defense Force recruited new sailors with idol group and sentai imagery. (Japan's armed forces are called "Self-Defense Forces" due to its constitution's prohibition on traditional military forces with war potential.)
