Gonzo Studio Shows Designs for New Project in Progress
posted on by Egan Loo
The Gonzo anime studio showcased four character design sheets for a new project in the works at its Tokyo International Anime Fair (TAF) booth this week. Gonzo had told ANN on Thursday that it was developing a potential Spring 2011 project that would take advantage of the new stereoscopic 3D televisions now entering the marketplace. Gonzo did not specify whether the character designs on display at its TAF booth were from the same project in development.
Gonzo showcased clips of Last Exile and Blassreiter that have been rendered in stereoscopic 3D at TAF. Similarly, Tôhoku Shinsha had a 3D theater devoted to its live-action feature film Garo~Red Requiem at TAF. The Bandai Namco Group screened stereoscopic 3D footage of Katsuhiro Ōtomo's Hipira-kun (Hipira: The Little Vampire) vampire anime series. Also at the event, Toei Animation displayed a stereoscopic 3D re-rendering of the ending dance sequence from the Precure All Stars DX2: Kibō no Hikari—Rainbow Jewel o Mamore! film, which has been playing in Japan with conventional 2D technology since March 20. NHK and Studio 4°C rounded out the companies showing stereoscopic 3D footage at TAF.
