posted on by Egan Loo
Nozomi Entertainment, the anime production arm of the online retailer Right Stuf, has announced on Wednesday that it has licensed the Dirty Pair television anime series. The anime follows the misadventures of the Lovely Angels — two teenaged galactic private investigators named Kei and Yuri who solve mysteries, but often leave chaos and wanton destruction in their wake. The 24 television episodes and two specials will come in two DVD collections, each of which will retail for US$49.99. The first DVD collection is slated for a late Fall 2010 release. The DVDs will include remastered video from the Japanese DVD release and Japanese audio with English subtitles.
The Sunrise anime studio adapted the Dirty Pair novels by Studio Nue co-founder Haruka Takachiho (Crusher Joe) in 1985. The novel have spawned a film and several video projects, including a 1990s re-imagining called Dirty Pair Flash. The other anime projects have been released in North America before, but this will be the first time that the television series has been released in North America.
