Avex Entertainment Establishes Anime Division
posted on by Egan Loo
Avex Group Holdings announced on February 10 that its Avex Entertainment subsidiary is establishing an anime production division to develop business opportunities in voice actors and actresses, merchandisable works, and long-term franchises. The division is an outgrowth from an earlier "anime room" that existed within the video production division of Avex Entertainment's video business group. As part of a larger restructuring effort across all of Avex, the BeeTV mobile phone television station is getting its own production division as well.
Avex Entertainment has long been involved in the production of music for NANA, Black Jack, and many other anime. It has also been directly involved with the production of several anime such as Vexille - 2077 Isolation of Japan, CODE-E, and Mission-E. It distributes the DVDs for some more titles, including One Piece, Hikaru no Go, 07-Ghost, and GA: Geijutsuka Art Design Class. The award-winning BeeTV service has been streaming original anime programming such as ufotable's Yawarakame and Damens Walker.
