AIC to Replace Gonzo on 2nd Strike Witches Season (Updated)
posted on by Egan Loo
The fourth issue of Kadokawa Shoten's Nyantype magazine is confirming on Wednesday that the AIC anime studio is replacing Gonzo on the animation production of the second anime season of Strike Witches. As recently as April, Gonzo was listed as the anime studio for the second season. Like the 2007 video anime and the first television anime season (2008), the tentatively titled "Strike Witches 2-ki" is based on Humikane Shimada's mecha-girl illustrations.
Most of the main staff will tentatively return from the first season, including director and anime character designer Kazuhiro Takamura, the series script supervisor "Striker Unit," and Takaaki Suzuki (the staffer who helps develop the setting of the story's world and military matters).
The North American anime distributor Funimation announced in April that it acquired the rights to release the first Strike Witches television anime season. Crunchyroll and BOST TV had streamed the first anime season when it premiered in Japan last year.
