posted on by Egan Loo
Chase Wang, the founder of BAM! Marketing, Publicity & Promotions, has confirmed that The Society for the Promotion of Japanese Animation (SPJA), the parent company of Anime Expo, is no longer using his company's services as of Friday. SPJA had been contracting with BAM! for at least the last four years, during which Wang and his company had often been the public face of Anime Expo to the anime industry and press. In addition to public relations, BAM! was involved to other areas of convention management such as guest relations. The other clients of BAM! have included Crunchyroll and Rockin' Android. SPJA has not yet responded to ANN's Friday afternoon request for comment.
Updated: According to Wang, BAM! had been working with SPJA/Anime Expo for over six years.
Update 2: Kim Groomes, SPJA Director of Administration, Marketing, & Corporate Communications, declined to "comment on internal business affairs with its contractors and vendors."
