posted on by Egan Loo
Koji Yamamura, the Oscar-nominated director of "Mt. Head," will reveal a clip of his next work at an international symposium in Tokyo on September 24. Yamamura is currently working on his "Muybridge's Strings" ("Muybridge no Ito") anime short. The "Nihon to Canada no Produce Chikara" ("Producers' Roles in Canada and Japan") symposium will take place at the Canadian embassy in Tokyo to celebrate the 70th anniversary of the National Film Board of Canada/Office national du film du Canada (NFB/ONF).
During his "By and Within NFB ~30-nen no Yume no Jitsugen~" opening speech at the symposium, Yamamura will present a video selection and stills from "Muybridge's Strings." NFB is part of the film's international production; the film is the first Japanese anime short to be jointly produced by NFB.
In 2003, Yamamura and Spirited Away director Hayao Miyazaki became the first directors nominated for an Academy Award with a Japanese animated work.
