On July 10, Japanese police arrested a 27-year-old unemployed man named Jun Sasaki on suspicion of defaming and stalking the voice actress Haruna Ikezawa (Sgt. Frog, Futari wa Pretty Cure). The man, who comes from Morioka City in the northeastern Japanese prefecture of Iwate, allegedly wrote defamatory posts on the bulletin board system on Ikezawa's homepage and sent email messages to request a personal meeting. The man was indicted on July 30, but his arrest and indictment were only made public on Monday.
According to the indictment documents, the suspect defamed Ikezawa with messages written on her bulletin board system in February. From February to April, the suspect allegedly sent 16 email messages via mobile phone that said, among other things, "Come by yourself to Morioka, since it's only two hours by shinkansen ('bullet train')."
Ikezawa revealed on her official website in February that she has an restraining order against a stalker who, among other acts, had pursued her on the street at night. Neither the authorities nor Ikezawa has identified Sasaki as the same alleged stalker or a different person.
