Japanese Box Office, August 22-23

Kamen Rider Decade: All Rider Tai Dai-Shocker stayed at #3 on Kogyo Tsushinsha's Japanese box office chart during the August 22-23 weekend. According to Box Office Mojo, it took in US$1,327,638 on 345 screens during its third weekend for a cumulative box office of US$15,910,494.
Kunihiko Yuyama's Pocket Monster Diamond & Pearl: Arceus Chōkoku no Jikū e, the 12th film in the Pokémon anime franchise, also stayed at #5. It earned US$1,092,268 on 366 screens in its sixth weekend to add to its total of US$44,153,227.
Mamoru Hosoda's Summer Wars film rose from #11 back onto the chart at #9 in its fourth weekend. It garnered US$915,330 in its fourth weekend on 128 screens for a total of US$9,800,496.
Masakazu Hishida's Yatterman: Shin Yatter Mecha Daishūgō! Omocha no Kuni de Daikessen da Koron!, the second anime movie based on the superhero comedy franchise, opened at #10 with US$702,155 on 210 screens. Similarly, Shinsuke Satō and Production I.G's Oblivion Island: Haruka and the Magic Mirror opened at #12 on Box Office Mojo's chart with US$674,449 on 211 screens.
Gokusen the Movie, Tōya Satō's live-action theatrical film based on Kozueko Morimoto's Gokusen school comedy manga, fell from #7 off the chart in its seventh weekend.
